Privacy & Safety

A short explanation of how RAIM handles information, and what it can and cannot help with.

What we ask you not to share

RAIM does not need, and should never be given, sensitive personal information. Please do not type:

  • Your full legal name
  • ID, passport, or refugee registration numbers
  • Your exact home address or shelter location
  • Private medical details or diagnoses

You only need to describe your general situation - for example "I need help finding a doctor" is enough.

How your information is used

This project stores conversations and feedback only to improve how the chatbot matches people to resources, and to power the usage dashboard on the homepage.

How to read "Verified" vs "Unverified"

Every resource RAIM suggests is a real organization, compiled from public sources like UNHCR and OPM documents and official NGO websites. But settlement-specific contact details are rarely published anywhere, so most entries start Unverified until someone confirms them accurate on the ground. An Unverified badge means "this is a documented lead, please confirm before relying on it" - not "this is wrong." Uganda's refugee response is also facing serious funding cuts as of 2025-2026, so some documented services may be reduced or paused even where confirmed to exist.

What RAIM cannot do

RAIM is a resource-navigation tool, not a lawyer or a doctor. It cannot give legal or medical advice, and it cannot respond to emergencies in real time.

  • Medical emergency: seek urgent local medical care immediately - do not wait for a chatbot reply.
  • Legal questions: RAIM does not provide official legal advice - contact a qualified legal aid provider for your specific situation.
  • Immediate danger: contact local protection services or police right away.
